Lyrics

When I was a boy
We put our hands on our hearts
Said a pledge to the flag
Before classes would start
We honored our heroes
On that you can bet
Our parents, police, teachers, and vets

We all stood tall when the flag went by
Sang the Anthem loud
With our heads held high
That was long ago
In a simpler time
When most of us had American Pride

Now these freedoms we have
They came at a cost
To friends and neighbors
And family we’ve lost
They battled at sea, and on faraway lands
Avenging our loss, at terrorist hands

But these colors won’t run
These colors won’t hide
We keep saving the world
With this American Pride
So, lift up the Red, the White, and the Blue
And Americans that fight for you
[Chorus]
Put America First, have American Pride
Honor the country where Eagles fly
Sing the Anthem loud with your head held high
Respect the Flag
Have American Pride

Seems the nation I love is on the wrong course
And people don’t talk anymore
We’ve got to find a way to right the ship
And find a common shore
But to fix this great divide
We have to reach down deep inside
Put politics aside and find
Our American Pride
[Chorus]
Put America First, have American Pride
Honor the country where Eagles fly
Sing the Anthem loud with your head held high
Respect Flag
Put America First, have American Pride
Honor the country where Eagles fly
Sing the Anthem loud with your head held high
Respect the Flag
Have American Pride.
